Before you write your proposal, select a journal to which you "plan to submit the results of your research for publication". Each journal will have instructions for authors. Copy those instructions and follow their style in the preparation of you proposal. A part of your grade on the proposal will be based on how carefully your group adheres to the instructions. Alternatively, use a standard format such as APA or AIBS.
